Spirituality
We take pride in the Spiritual Development of our school community at Chapmanslade Primary School.
Spirituality has always been at the heart of everything we do at Chapmanslade. We want our pupils to be 'question-askers'; curious about the world around them.
Our curriculum was built from the ground up with this in mind. Through every day experiences, Collective Worship and through our curriculum, pupils are encouraged to ponder. We always take the time to consider the 'big questions'. A fundamental part of our approach is that 'if pupils are old enough to ask a question, then they are old enough to deserve an answer', at least on some level. Pupils and staff explore the world together through Collective Worship and within lessons. Our curriculum is deliberately enquiry-based, with each unit of learning asking a 'big question', which pupils are given the knowledge to answer throughout the unit.
We want pupils to make up their own minds about their place in the world - often referring to 'Nobody Stands No-where'.
Spirituality is not a 'bolt-on' to what we do. It is what we do at Chapmanslade every day.
Belonging
Feeling a sense of belonging is incredibly important in the context of spirituality. From day one with us, we want all of our stakeholders (pupils, parents, staff, Academy Councillors and memberof our community) to feel a sense of belonging at Chapmanslade; feeling part of our special school community.
