Academy Council

The Chapmanslade Academy Council (local governing body) was reformatted in Term 5 2024-5 after joining Acorn Education Trust. It will, initially be constituted with members drawn from:

  • The school
  • Local Acorn schools
  • The community, including members of the local secondary Academy Council
  • Parents who we are keen to recruit.

This link takes you to the core responsibilities of Academy Councils at Acorn:  Acorn Academy Councils

Their responsibilities lie in the areas of:

  • Parent relations
  • Vision and values
  • Community relations
  • Under the umbrella of the professionals at the Trust, Safeguarding
  • Behaviour and reward
  • Wider curriculum

As well as the above the Academy Council has an understanding of the school through the self-evaluation form which gives information on all aspects of the school three times a year.

The Academy Council is also the key link between the local governance and the Board of the Acorn Education Trust.
