Redwood Class visit Bristol Aerospace
Back
Redwood Class had a blast during their trip to Bristol Aerospace!
Redwood Class pupils visited Bristol Aerospace this June following previous learning about forces in science.
We were lucky enough to visit the concorde hanger by ourselves for the first part of the day. Pupils particularly enjoyed going on the concorde itself and couldn't believe how big it was! There were lots of questions about how the nose of the plane worked!
Following this, we were able to witness an old plane being restored in a neigbouring hanger and one of the engineers workign on the plane was kind enough to explain about the history of the plane and the restorations his team were making. We also explored the main Aerospace museum; particularly enjoying the interactive elements.
We then enjoyed an Engineers of the Future workshop led by Aerospace staff: learning about the history of flight with a focus on Bristol’s most famous aeroplanes. We explored how the materials used to build aeroplanes have changed over time, aerodynamics and the science behind aeroplane design. Pupils then created and tested their own gliders.
