Religion & Worldviews Day 2026
Back
A big thank you to all those who took part in our annual Religion and Worldviews day
Thank you to parents and adults who attended our closing Collective Worship and wore their Theologian Glasses perfectly!
This year our journey day consisted on 4 workshops; Christianity, Humanism, Hindusim and a visit from a person of Jewish Faith.
Judaism Session
To start our Religion & Worldviews Day, we had a guest speaker of Jewish faith, Iris, visit us. Both Key Stage One and Two have been looking through this worldview lens and studying Judaism this year and so we were very excited to share our Theologian fascinating facts as well as ask lots of Philosopher questions. Our focus in Blossom and Willow has been the celebration of Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah and in Oak, we have been focusing on The Seder Meal, Food Laws and Bar Mitzvahs. We have also learnt about the values, traditions and festivities that are part of the Jewish faith and really enjoyed listening to a first-hand account of this worldview and looking at the many artefacts!
Christianity Workshop
Pupils visited our school church with the clergy. In this session, we focused on Psalm 23-The Lord is my Shepherd. We have been practicing the accompanying song to the Psalm by Stuart Townend in Collective Worship. We have been interpreting the lyrics as a “thank you for the goodness of God”. And so in this workshop wrote reflections, prayers and gift tags of ‘thanks’ to be displayed around the church and then on our Reflection Tree. It was a time of peacefulness and a chance to reflect on what we are thankful for and where we stand from our worldview.
Humanism Workshop
Pupils thought about what it means if you are looking through the worldview lens of being a Humanist, how you believe in evidence, critical thinking and science to inform your worldviews approach. Many Humanists believe that this is our one life, with our one planet and therefore must lead of good compassionate life to look after our world and the people within it. During this workshop, we explored the symbol from the ‘Understanding Humanism’ website called The Happy Human. We then decorated it with the features a humanist might think we should celebrate and promote.
Hinduism Workshop
Pupils focused on the main values of Hinduism, also known as Sanatana Dharma. We explored how Hindus or a Sanātanī believe in one Supreme Being, called Brahman and that there are many Gods and Goddesses and they are different forms of Brahman. We also learnt that Hindus or a Sanātanī think that all living creatures as equal, so they try to show them respect. They believe that life is a cycle of birth, death and rebirth and every action that they make has an effect called Karma. This means that how they live now will have an impact on how they live in their next life on Earth. We then celebrated this religion and applied our knowledge by designing Rangoli patterns.
